It's Just a Way
by Stephen Keymer
It's just a way
I can't explain...
Tomorrow's sunsets
are torn
Through her eyes
like the circumcision of
A child
and don't ask me why
I bow at her feet...
think it nothing
When I shoot myself in
the mornings,
Across the pregnant belly
seas of awareness
To share her soft heaven
blissful lips...
If you called it lust
could it be desire?
Can you offer me love?
someday the sun is burnt
Out
and love is truly lost.
Someday I will see her
again...
I might turn to the sun,
lift my wings
Into flight...
I could be Icarus
Who got too high...
I could just kiss her
and walk away...
I could kill her
then kill myself...
think I'll get real high
Above all else,
think I'll set my sights
Straight for the sun.
